Chana Zirkind, 24, OBM

Chana Zirkind, a young woman from Israel and daughter of Rabbi Yehoshua Shlomo Zirkind OBM, passed away after a long battle with a terrible illness.

Chana Zirkind, a young woman from Israel, passed away at the age of 24 after a long battle with a terrible illness.

Chana was the daughter of Rabbi Yehoshua Shlomo Zirkind OBM and his wife Sara, who were sent by the Rebbe in 5738 in one of the groups of Shluchim to Israel.

They lived in Tzfas for many years and later moved to the Ramot Gimmel neighborhood in Jerusalem.

Her father was known for his dealing with rare books and his vast knowledge which helped return books stolen from the Rebbe's Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library in Brooklyn in the "Didan Notzach" case.

He later turned to alternative healing, helping people around Israel and the world with medical conditions and physical problems. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 58.

Chana battled a terrible illness in recent years. She passed away today in Israel.

She is survived by her mother Sara and siblings Nechama Dina Cohen, R' Mendel Zirkind - Maui, Hawaii, Schneur Zalman Zirkind, R' Levi Zirkind - Los Angeles, Aidele Zirkind, Mrs. Mirel Weinbaum - Dix Hills, NY, Shaya Boruch, Chanania Yosef, Batsheva and Bracha.

She is also survived by her grandmother, Mrs. Raizel Zirkind, whose husband Rabbi Eliezer Zirkind OBM was the Rebbe's sofer.

The Levaya will take place today, Wednesday at 3 pm from Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem to Har Hazesim, Chabad Chelka.

Baruch Dayan Ha'emes.

so fast...
I was with Suri last week in Hadassah, holding her hand, when they told her there wasn't much more they could do. we talked about maybe bringing Chana home for hospice/ palliative care -a few months, maybe longer;.no one thought it would go so fast. she suffered so. Suri you have cried many tears these last several years..may all those tears be transformed into joyous ones very very soon. YOU were one devoted amazing mother.. BDE Chana and Reuven Schoenberg

I'm so sorry to hear and very heart broken on the news, there is no words to even say or express the anguish the family is going through ,especially painful
is that her father's yarhzeit is on shabbos and her zaide's yarhzeit is on Monday, what a crazy world we r in. I prayed and said tehillim for her recovery is was on the Tehillim WhatsApp saying Tehillim for her ,and than shocked , out of my witz to see the name change on the WhatsApp. No words to even sooth the situation but say Hamokoim yenachem eschem metoich shaarei availa tziyon v' yerushelaim .Chazak v,'emotz be strong and hang in there and let there be lots of simchas in the family and extended families ach toiv Vachesed the rest of your lifes .
And may ur father's neshama have an aliya in the world of neshomos andmay he be a big maylitz yosher for the gantzier meshpocho, and come down here with your sister and the rabbeim and dance at all the simchas. I'm in l.a. now I wanted to take part in the kiddush by Levi but plans change .may plans change again and moshiach comes now and no need for all this just pure simcha and dancing.
