Frum Couple on Train Goes Viral

A photo of a frum couple who did a simple yet kind gesture on a New York Subway is restoring people's "faith in humanity."

By COLlive reporter

Jackie Summers, an African American resident of Brooklyn, New York, and an adherent of the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, posted a photo on his Facebook page on Sunday.

The photo showed a young chassidic Jewish couple sitting on a Subway car near a Muslim woman and her baby in what appears to have made a Kiddush Hashem.

Summers wrote:

"A Taoist (me) gives up his seat so a Hasidic couple could sit together. They scoot over so a Muslim mother could sit and nurse her baby, on Easter Sunday. This is my America: people letting people be people."

The image has struck a chord on the social media site with over 70,000 people liking the photo and another 54,373 people sharing it. It was even mentioned on TV newscasts.

"This is what makes America great and these days I've been struggling to find ways to feel good about America," wrote Facebook user Lisa Smith Zwart. "We, the people...Thank you for restoring a little of my faith in humanity today, Jackie."

Another, Elizabeth Tonge, wrote: "There is hope. I'm actually tearful reading this. Humanity."

I wonder if the Muslim woman would have done the same for the Hasidic woman?????

Like a breath of fresh air,
is this article that made the news with a positive, healthy slant on the Jewish people.

I wonder if number 2 can just for a moment not assume the worst in people and appreciate the positive message of this article/post. Yes, there are many muslim women in NY who would scoot over so a Jewish woman can nurse her baby.

We live in crazy times if moving over on your seat is considered remarkable

Last year
We were in Yerushalayim during Pesach. My daughter was on crutches & one man stood up for her on the light-rail. Only after did we hear him speak in Arabic. Who knew?

Nice gesture....folks...go to 'Google' (etc.) and
type in: 'The Three Stages of Islam.' The host claims, in this three part video series, that most American Muslims do not know how very aggressive Islam really is.

In yerushalayim on light rail friday
A non jewish 20 yr old woman gave up her seat to a woman with a child. She ended up standing next to a terrorist on the train who assumed she was a jew and stabbed her to death. The terrorist was grabbed before he could kill anyone else. She ended up dying rather than a jew. All because she gave up her seat

# 15 & # 7
The big deal is that regardless of what was done or not done that a lot of non-jews saw this scenario & Yidden in a positive light for a change & for whatever reason were encouraged by it. That is a BIG deal if you're aware of how Jews are generally portrayed in the media nowadays!

good to hear good news
It's refreshing to see good news.... even if it's a sufek s'feka. I think the Arab would move over for the Jews as well. Arabs happen to be sensitive people... their politics and religion makes the monsters among them rulers. I remember in Israel before the insane 'peace' process began. The roads were full of Arab workers who were very friendly and helpful.

Let us hope
that the mothers milk doesnt contain the hate that many of them feed to their children. I nice Kiddush Hashem. Yasher Koach to the respectable couple and to the woman who noticed and posted.

If a lot of non-Jews we're impressed/surprised that a Jewish couple moved over to make room for another, (of any religion), I'd be offended
